      <image:title>BLOG - The “IT” Handlebar Bag - A Bucket Bag in Disguise</image:title>
<image:caption>Handlebar bags pose a particular challenge for me. Getting the right one is even more critical than choosing the perfect everyday handbag. At the end of the day - you can’t just swap out your handlebar bag mid tour. This bag is with you 24/7 for the duration. Just like you know what you need from the perfect handbag - you’ll quickly work out what you need from the perfect handlebar bag. Also, like your favourite handbag, it is probably important the bag is aesthetically pleasing to you. You would probably also like it to complement the rest of your get up. It will most definitely have to be just the right size and feel just ‘so’. And, moreover, it will need to fit in everything you need. No. I am neither Goldilocks nor Mary Poppins. Just a woman who knows the function and form of her perfect handlebar bag.</image:caption>

      <image:title>BLOG - #DREAMBIG - Ready or NOT?</image:title>
<image:caption>Five days to go and my last day at Peak rolled around. For the very first day I didn’t ride my bike. Inclement weather is my excuse - I didn’t want to get wet - then workout. I’m starting to feel a bit cautious - I couldn’t imagine getting sniffles this late in the game. In fact, it would have been a perfect pre-run for the trip - Brisbane (usually a belting sunny 30 deegree C with 90% humidity) threw up an anolmoly of a day - high 21 low 11 drizzling. exactly the weather we’re headed for in NZ. A not so subtle reminder of the conditions we’re going to experience for the next three weeks. It’s only a three minute ride to the gym - two if I go fast. Five minute drive by the time I get out the driveway, find a carpark and walk to the gym. You see where I’m going here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Whilst it would be nice to be slender and slimline - I was blessed with a different body shape. A little muscular and a slightly shorter stature than a significant percentage of the population. This, however, is not the shape I need from reading glasses - a cannot leave home without item.</image:caption>

<image:title>BLOG - Slender and Slimline - I discovered these glasses to take on our very first cycle tour and haven’t looked back (pun unintended). They are a couple of millimetres thick and in a slick solid case - truly slimline. they are tiny and tidy I’ve not found anything that comes close for weight, quality, sleekness. I have black Harry Potter look-a-likes with arms. Since purchasing mine, the range has expanded, now there’s two frame styles in ten colours. Just saying, I may have my eye on the tortoise shell Manhattans next… Worth noting just one design hiccup - the black case looks great but gets seriously lost in your bag. I’ve remedied this by plastering the case with my favourite cycling stickers - not a great look but a simple and practical solution nonetheless.</image:title>

      <image:title>BLOG - TA Prevailing Weather - Heads or Tails?</image:title>
<image:caption>After having a lovely golfing interlude in NZ this week, I’m seriously reconsidering my packing goal. We were lucky enough to play a round with a fellow who completed the TA almost a year ago to the day. Unlike us, he courageously took on the tour from start to finish - all 3000 plus kilometres of it. Cape Rienga to Bluff - it even sounds spectacular, doesn’t it - Cape to Bluff. In any case, he covered enormous distances daily and was kind enough to share his journal from the tour with us. Which made me think hard about the day to day of the trip…..</image:caption>

<image:caption>Still on the get strong exercise regime - four weeks in and seeing a difference during rides. Before starting with the PEAK guys I have never touched a bar bell or free weights before. This is making me think about the physicality of being on the other side of fifty. I somewhat brazenly requested the trainers get me the biggest legs and butt they could in 15 weeks. The trainers were up for the challenge - they were giving me every opportunity to follow their motto #DREAMBIG. I’ll tell you now, I pride myself in not falling for motivational marketing tactics - but these guys were definitely walking the talk.</image:caption>

      <image:title>BLOG - Tour Aotearoa - I had a Dream… - 3000 spectacular kilometres in my own backyard….</image:title>
<image:caption>Well, it wasn’t exactly me who had the dream and technically it’s across the ditch, not in my backyard. This one was my husband’s dream. Apparently it had been percolating for years. Cycling from the most northern tip of New Zealand to the most southern tip. 3000 kilometres in all. Simply spectacular countryside - any wonder Peter Jackson chose it for Bilbo Baggins and his crew of the HOBBIT to inhabit. Beauty of the rugged country aside, you can’t help but notice the pure scale of the mountains. To date, our riding tours have been, let’s say - suited to most ages and cycling ability. This Tour Aotearoa does not appear to be a one size fits all. Daily distances are longer, for example Day One well over my 70km sweet spot at 107km along a beach with prevailing weather conditions promising a hectic headwind. Elevations over those hobbit mountains, jet boat transfer (with bikes) through an uncycle-able gorge section - (well, okay that sounds fun). I’ve read “Fear and Loathing on the TA” and am hoping I have a different experience to Hal and Homer!</image:caption>
